The VRDL allows students who may not have been able to attend a field trip, event, or lecture, the opportunity to experience it as if they were with the class.
It provides instructors the ability to design effective curriculums in which students can become more involved in the learning process. Virtual tours can allow the students to immerse themselves in a lecture, thus increasing their retention rate of the information, and they have fun while they are learning.
Rather than having each student go on every single field trip which can be very costly, have each school split up the trips and create virtual tours of each one so that all the students can share in the educational benefits from each desired location. This can also provide the opportunity for a virtual tour contest that is designed to bring the best out in the students, and it allows them the chance to learn differently.
